Warren Ellis

Comic book author and nonconformist, British writer Ellis is one of the scriptwriters who have left their mark on modern comics. In 1994, he worked at Marvel 2099 (a subsidiary of Marvel Comics). During his tenure there, he created the crossover "One Nation Under Doom," where the future's Doctor Doom emerges as the dictator of the United States. Since then, Ellis has focused on two favorite themes: the supernatural and horror on one hand, and science fiction with socio-political implications on the other. Among the titles he has worked on are "Hellstrom," "Excalibur," "Thor," "Stormwatch," "Authority," "Transmetropolitan," "Hellblazer," "Planetary," and "Nextwave." These series are either his exclusive creations or, as in the case of Iron Man, involve the renewal and redefinition of famous characters. Almost all the works in which the British creator has participated touch upon these two themes. Ellis's ideas have proven to be so noteworthy that they profoundly influence the new rising generation of comic book writers.
