Panagiotis Antoniou was born in Komotini, where he currently resides and works as a member of the Teaching and Research Staff in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science at Democritus University of Thrace. His academic focus is on New Technologies in Physical Education and Sports. He studied Physical Education and Sports Science at the School of Physical Education and Sports Science in Thessaloniki (1978-1982) and received equivalency from the School of Physical Education and Sports Science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1985. During the same decade, captivated by computer technology, he dedicated many hours to using them. He conducts research on the impact of computers on the educational process and completed his doctoral dissertation on the evaluation of multimedia applications in teaching physical education. Since 1985, he has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science at Democritus University of Thrace. Since 1993, he has been organizing and teaching computer courses at the department. Additionally, he regularly participates as a trainer in the pedagogical utilization of ICT in the introductory training of teachers (PEK), in the implementation of teacher training programs in ICT (Information Society), and in various research projects and activities related to his field of expertise. His main research interest is the application of ICT in teaching physical education and the utilization of information technology applications in distance education.
