Alan Bradley

Alan Bradley was born in Toronto and grew up in Cobourg, Ontario. He served as the Director of Television Engineering at the Media Centre of the University of Saskatchewan for twenty-five years until he decided to take early retirement in 1994 to dedicate himself to writing. He has authored award-winning children's books, short stories broadcast on radio, and journalistic articles published in national print media. He was also one of the two authors of the successful yet controversial book "Ms. Holmes of Baker Street," as well as the touching personal story "The Shoebox Bible" that followed. Bradley won the Dagger Award for Best First Novel from the Crime Writers' Association—along with many other awards and accolades—for the novel "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie," the first book in a new series featuring the brilliant young British amateur detective Flavia de Luce. The second book in the series was released in 2010. Alan Bradley lives in Malta with his wife and their two self-centered cats.
