
Ikbal Ali Shah
Sirdar Ikbal Ali Shah was born in Sardhana, India, on July 12, 1894. He completed his studies in Scotland for the British Foreign Office. A passionate advocate for the modernization of Islam, he dedicated much of his work to introducing the East to the West. He authored numerous books, including travel narratives from his extensive journeys in the Middle East and Central Asia, anthologies of Eastern literature, interpretative texts on Eastern religions and mystical traditions, particularly Sufism, and books on Islam. He passed away on November 4, 1969, in Tangier, Morocco, where he had taken refuge after the death of his wife.
