Gordon Brown holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Edinburgh and began his career as a lecturer. In 1983, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time. From 1997 to 2007, he served as Chancellor of the Exchequer, contributing to the comprehensive reform of British monetary and fiscal policy, and implementing steady investments in health, education, and international aid. From 2007 to 2010, he served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Labour Party. Brown is married and has two sons.
