Geoff Johns

Geoff Johns is one of the most significant and renowned contemporary comic book writers. He has penned award-winning stories featuring Superman, Green Lantern, Flash, Teen Titans, and the Justice Society of America, as well as graphic novels such as "Green Lantern: Rage of the Red Lanterns," "Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps War," "Justice Society of America: Thy Kingdom Come," "Superman: Brainiac," and "Blackest Night." Johns was born in Detroit and studied screenwriting, film theory and production, and media arts at the University of Michigan. After moving to Los Angeles, he worked as an intern and later as an assistant to director Richard Donner, whose film credits include "Superman: The Movie," "Lethal Weapon 4," and "Conspiracy Theory." Johns began his comics career with the series "Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E.," creating the character Stargirl for DC Comics. He won the Wizard Fan Award for New Talent in 2002 and the Writer of the Year Award in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, as well as the Comic Buyer's Guide Awards for Best Writer in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008, and Best Series (for Justice Society of America) from 2001 to 2005. Following his successful tenure on "The Flash," "Teen Titans," and the mini-series "Infinite Crisis," Johns co-wrote 8 issues of "Action Comics" with his mentor Richard Donner. In 2006, along with Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, and Mark Waid, he worked on the series 52. He has also ventured into television, writing the episode "Legion" for the series "Smallville" and the fourth season of "Robot Chicken." Additionally, he wrote the script for the online game DC Universe Online and recently assumed the position of Chief Creative Officer at DC Entertainment.
