Spyridon Kamalakis

Spyridon Th. Kamalakis was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1939. He studied at the University of Alexandria and later continued his education at universities in Greece (Athens) and Canada (Vancouver), earning degrees in Pharmaceutical Chemistry with a specialization in Drug Chemistry (PhD), Economics, and Industrial Psychology. He is an honorary professor at the Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University in Russia. In addition to Greek, he speaks Arabic, English, French, and Turkish. He holds a 40% partnership in the international group Sangari-Camalaki, which specializes in equipping technical schools of secondary, higher, and tertiary education, with offices in 14 countries worldwide. He is the President of the Foundation for Pedagogical Studies and Applications and has been the President of the Greek-Egyptian Friendship Association since 1993, taking significant initiatives to strengthen friendly, cultural, and commercial relations between Greece and Egypt. In 1993, he was named the best business manager of the year. As the president of charitable associations with significant philanthropic activities, he has been described as "the man who puts philanthropy into action." For over fifty years (since 1957), he has worked for the prosperity of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria. He is the President of the Ancient Patriarchal Order of St. Sabbas the Sanctified. In recognition of his significant contributions and initiatives, he has been declared a Grand Benefactor of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa and was promoted from Grand Archon Referendarius of the Church of Alexandria to Grand Archon Logothete. He has been honored with numerous distinctions, including the Golden Cross of the Millennium of Mount Athos (1963) and the Apostle Andrew from the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Laurel-Crowned Cross from the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and the Grand Cross of Honor of St. Sabbas, the Grand Cross of St. Sabbas, and that of St. Mark from the Patriarchate of Alexandria. He has also been awarded the Grand Cross of the Ecclesiastical Order of St. Lazarus and the Order of the Lion of Orléans of Brazil. He holds a diploma of recognition for "social services" from the Egyptian State and the Senate of West Virginia, USA.
