Camilla Läckberg

Camilla Lackberg was born on August 30, 1974, and grew up in Fjällbacka, a fishing village approximately 140 km from Gothenburg. All the stories in her books are set in Fjällbacka. From a young age, she aspired to be a writer. By the age of eleven, she had read all of Agatha Christie's books. She studied economics at the University of Gothenburg and worked as an economist for a few years in Stockholm. A creative writing seminar she attended in Stockholm prompted her to change her career path. It was then that she began writing her first book, "The Ice Princess," which was published in Sweden in 2003 when Camilla was 29 years old. Three years later, the books from her promising series featuring the author Erica—Camilla's alter ego—and the detective Patrick appeared on bestseller lists. Today, her books have sold over 10 million copies and have been published in more than 30 countries. Extremely popular in her home country, she recently participated in the TV show "Dancing with the Stars," and since Christmas 2012, a series based on the Fjällbacka mysteries has been airing on Swedish television.
