Dmitry Alexeyevich Glukhovsky was born in 1979 in Russia. He worked for several years as a journalist-correspondent in Israel, Germany, and France. He speaks five languages. His novel "Metro 2033" was first published in 2005 and reissued in 2007. In the same year, it received the Eurocon 2007 award. Before its publication, chapters of the novel were released on the Internet and in several online libraries. As the chapters were published online, the readership of the websites steadily increased, and many readers began to claim participation in its development. "I have no experience as a metro worker, I did not serve in the army, I did not build houses, I am not an economist, so I had some mistakes and inaccuracies in my text," the author himself says. "However, because the book was published chapter by chapter and a whole community had formed around it, I was able to 'monitor' people's reactions. It turned out that among my readers were metro workers, train drivers, military personnel, and special forces members who had fought in Chechnya... And they corrected my mistakes and made predictions." The author made his readers participants in the plot and the world of the book. Judging by the reactions of those who read it, they consider the post-nuclear metro an entire alternative reality, something akin to Tolkien's world, and many would be happy to settle in it. At the time of the book's publication on the Internet, over two hundred thousand people visited "Metro 2033." Additionally, the text circulated in large online libraries, and the most devoted fans of the dystopian fantasy printed the text and exchanged it with their friends. The underground world as an alternative to the devastated earth proved to be such an interesting theme that the book became a globally renowned electronic game with devoted fans, and its adaptation into a film is even considered possible. Other works by him include: "Night" (1998), "Eight Minutes" (1998), "Stories About Animals" (1999), "Infinita Tristessa" (2005), "Metro 2034" (2009), "Stories About the Motherland" (2010), "Return to Cordoba" (2010).
