Michalis Patsis

Michalis Patses (1962) was born in Tropea, Arcadia. He has engaged in philosophy, "The Role of Language in the Cognitive Process" (1988), linguistics, "Recall Experiments as a Methodological Tool for Understanding Word Meaning" (2005), and philology. He holds a master's degree in philosophy and a doctorate in philology. He taught Greek philology for several years at Lomonosov University in Moscow. He lives and works in Athens. He has published the poetry collections "Time Island" (2006, 2011), "Sbornik" (2012), which includes the poetic cycles ("Time Island," "Exile Does Not Exist," "Radiant City," "Winter in Italy"), as well as the translation-study, Pushkin "Short Poems" (2012). His works "Self-taught Method for Teaching the Greek Language" (Moscow, 2010) and "The Theory and Practice of Translation (Russian-Greek)" (Moscow, 2012) are also available in Russian. He edited and wrote the preface for the Russian translation of M. Koumandareas' novel "The Jersey with the Nine" (2010). He has participated in collective publications and has given speeches and lectures on the Greek language in Greece and abroad. His work "Kazantzakis and Russia" was shortlisted for the 2014 Literary Awards in the "Essay" category.
