Maria Ralli - Ydraiou

Maria Ralli-Hydraiou was born in Xanthi and hails from the historic city of Kütahya in Phrygia. She studied English, French, and Italian Philology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as Balkan Languages (Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Turkish, and Old Turkish) at the Institute for Balkan Studies in Thessaloniki. At the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she studied History and Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy and attended the Political Science department at the Law School. In Newcastle, Northern England, she studied 20th-century Literature (English and American) and earned a Master of Arts in Critical Theory (20th-century Philosophy). She attended courses in Art History at the Archaeological Society of Athens, as well as Palaeography, Chinese, and Hieroglyphics. She is a member of the Society of Greek Writers and engages in translation, essay writing, criticism, poetry, and prose. She delved into the study of Aristotle's Metaphysics for her doctoral dissertation under the supervision of her late professor, Dimitrios Moukanos, a professor of Philosophy at the University of Athens. She served as a teacher at the Arsakeia Schools of Thessaloniki, Psychiko, and Ekali.
