Vasilis G. Nitsiakos

Vasilis Nitsiakos was born in Aetomilitsa, Ioannina, in 1958. He studied Philology, Folklore, and Social Anthropology at the universities of Ioannina, Leeds, and Cambridge. Since 1989, he has been teaching Folklore at the Department of History and Archaeology at the University of Ioannina, where he currently holds the position of Associate Professor. From 1994 to 1998, he was a research associate at the University of Cambridge in an international research program. He has authored the books "Traditional Social Structures," Odysseas 1991, "The Mountain Communities of Pindus: In the Echo of the Long Duration," Plethron 1995, "Miscellaneous Folklore," Odysseas 1997, "Prefecture of Ioannina: Contemporary Cultural Geography" (in collaboration), Prefectural Administration of Ioannina 1998, "The Rivers of Epirus: Places and Paths of Water, People, and Cultures" (in collaboration), N.A.I. 2001, and "Building Space and Time," Odysseas 2003.
