Charles Perrault

Charles Perrault was born in Paris in 1628 and died in 1703. From a young age, he showed an interest in literature. As a protégé of Colbert, the powerful minister of Louis XIV, he became a member of the renowned French Academy. Although he authored numerous works, he owes his fame to "Tales and Stories of the Past," published under his son's name. This is a collection of rhymed stories and prose texts created with the hope of entertaining children and captivating the European audience. Some of the most famous and perhaps most beautiful fairy tales, such as Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, have been set to music by composers like Rossini and Offenbach.
