Michel Tournier

Michel Tournier, one of the most significant French authors of the second half of the 20th century, was born in Paris in 1924. He studied philosophy at the Sorbonne and the University of Tübingen. His novel "Friday, or, The Other Island" (1967) earned him the Grand Prix of the French Academy. With the novel "The Ogre," he won the prestigious Prix Goncourt in 1970. He passed away on January 18, 2016, at the age of 91.
