Spyros A. Athanasiadis

Spyros Athanasiadis was born in Istanbul in 1944. During his student years in Turkey, he was a member of the Turkish Student Federation and the Turkish Student Union. The anti-Greek stance of the Turks against the Greek minority in the city led the Athanasiadis family to Greece. In Athens, he continued his studies at Panteion University and the Law School of the University of Athens. He contributes articles to the Greek Cypriot and Greek press. He has collaborated and continues to collaborate with many public services such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Order, the Press and Information Office, and the Cyprus News Agency. Numerous studies and analyses of his have been published. His latest published work is a Turkish-Greek dictionary. Until the academic year 1993-94, Spyros Athanasiadis was a professor of Turkish language, history, geography, and Islamic studies at the Cyprus Police Academy. Since August 1993, he has been directing the Turkish and Armenian Programs Service of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation.
