Spyros G. Mprikos

Spiros G. Brikos was born in Preveza in 1979 and hails from Syrrako. He studied Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He was awarded a scholarship from the Antoniou Papadaki Bequest, following a competitive exam, for all years of his studies. He specialized in Medical Biopathology - Microbiology at G.N.A. "Evangelismos". He received a diploma in Clinical Application of Medical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, through a two-year postgraduate program under the auspices of the International Council of Medical Acupuncture and Related Techniques (ICMART). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Medical Association of Preveza and an elected member of the Panhellenic Medical Association. He is also a member of the Hellenic Society for Microbiology and the Cooperative of Laboratory Doctors (MEDISYN). He has participated in scientific papers that have been presented and awarded at national medical conferences, as well as in publications in international medical journals (most recently in the medical journal Cardiology, March 2020, with the article "High Tolerability of Pitavastatin Therapy: A Case Report of Comparison with other Statins"). He has published the poetry collection "Atintanon Politeia" (2011, a collaborative work with Aris Psomas), and two short story collections: "Iatriko Paradoxo" (2015, Mandragoras Publications), which was presented at the 13th Thessaloniki International Book Fair (TIBF) in 2016, and the collection "Agia papalina i kalloni" (2017, Mandragoras Publications), presented at the 15th Thessaloniki International Book Fair (TIBF) in 2018. His prose works were presented in a lecture by Nikiforos Kontomichis-Afentoulidis at the 6th European Congress held in Lund, Sweden, in October 2018. The congress was organized by the European Society of Modern Greek Studies with the theme: "The Greek World in Times of Crisis and Recovery, 1204-2018." He is a regular contributor to the literary magazine Mandragoras, as well as a collaborator and columnist for Imerodromos. His short stories have been published in the literary magazines The Books' Journal, Nisides, Mandragoras, Apoplus, and his articles and texts in the newspapers Eleftherotypia, Ta Nea, as well as in online media.
