Arthur Machen

The great Welsh author of the Fantastic, Arthur Machen (1863-1947), was the creator of particularly strange works such as "The Great God Pan," "The Inmost Light," "The White People," "The Three Impostors," "The Novel of the Black Seal," "The Novel of the White Powder," "The Secret Glory," "The Great Return," "The Terror," "The Shining Pyramid," "The Bowmen," "A Fragment of Life," "House of Souls," "Tales of Horror and the Supernatural," among many others, as well as a multitude of articles, essays, and mystical studies. He lived a life dedicated to literature, study, mysticism, the pursuit of the Wonderful, travels, nature worship, and the unusual and delicate pursuits of an eccentric. His work "The Hill of Dreams" is considered his masterpiece, a novella for dreamers, subtly autobiographical, unsurpassably psychedelic, a romantic decadent vision, a literary transmutation of reality.
