Clear- The speed selection refers to the rear gears (cassette), not the total number of speeds of the bicycle.
- Direct Mount: Direct mounting on modern frames. For rear derailleurs: Screws directly onto the rear part of the frame (modern Mountain/Gravel). For front derailleurs: Attaches directly to special dedicated mounts on the frame.
- Standard: For rear derailleur: Refers to the classic screw-on derailleur that fits into the standard frame mount. For front derailleur: Means that the derailleur "clamps" onto the bike tube with its own metal clamp.
- Braze-on: Applies only to Front Derailleurs (usually on road/racing bikes). Select this if your bike frame already has a small, built-in metal mount (“tab”) for attaching the derailleur. Does not include a clamp.
