- FFP2 / KN95: They have a 95% protection rating and are European certified, equivalent to the American N95 and the Chinese Kn95. Additionally, they block particles so that whoever wears them does not inhale them.
- FFP3: They have a protection rate of 99% and are European certified, equivalent to the American N99 and the Chinese Kn99. Additionally, they block particles so that whoever wears them does not inhale them.
- Surgical: Particles are blocked so that the person wearing it does not transmit them. Type I/IR has a protection level of 95%, while type II/IIR has 98%. It provides greater protection than cloth masks and less than FFP2 masks.
- with Valve: They help prevent moisture from accumulating inside the mask, making breathing easier. The air we inhale is filtered while the air we exhale is not filtered. Their use is not recommended in healthcare facilities (e.g. hospitals and nursing homes).
- with Activated Carbon: Carbon filters help collect and filter pollutants and bacteria, cleaning the air we breathe. They trap 10-20% of viruses.
- Fabric: Usually made of cotton, which provides the lowest level of protection to the person wearing it. Not recommended for the elderly, individuals with underlying health conditions, and hospitals. They can be washed and reused.
