Clear- Pillar Drill: Fixed machines mounted on a bench or floor, designed for vertical and highly precise drilling at a fixed point.
- Magnetic Drill: Portable machines with an electromagnetic base that stabilizes directly on metal surfaces, allowing drilling in horizontal, vertical, or upside-down positions (e.g., on construction beams).
- Milling drill: They combine vertical drilling with light milling capabilities (side cutting), usually featuring a coordinate table (cross table) for moving the material.
- Determines the motor’s “power” and durability. Higher power allows the drill to handle harder metal alloys and drill larger holes without straining, slowing down, or overheating.
- Battery: They offer complete portability and flexibility for outdoor use or construction projects where there is no immediate access to a power supply.
- Electric: They ensure uninterrupted operation and stable performance for long, demanding tasks in the workshop or machine shop.
- 3/4" Weldon: Standard quick-change shank found almost exclusively on magnetic drills, specifically designed to secure metal hole saws (annular cutters).
- B16: External, solid taper at the end of the spindle (very common on pillar drills), onto which the classic jaw chuck is wedged and held.
- B22: External, solid taper at the end of the spindle (very common on pillar drills), onto which the classic jaw chuck is wedged and held.
- MT2: Internal tapered socket (Morse taper 2). It directly accepts medium-sized drills with the corresponding tapered shank, ensuring perfect centering and torque transfer without slipping.
- MT3: Internal tapered socket (Morse taper 3) with a larger cross-section than MT2. It is designed for larger drills, offering increased stability and durability for demanding, heavy-duty tasks.
- MT4: The most reinforced internal tapered socket (Morse taper 4) for this category. Intended for very large industrial-type drills, withstanding maximum torsional forces when drilling hard metals.
- Indicates the maximum hole diameter the machine can safely drill in steel. It is the primary indicator of the size of tasks the tool can handle.
