Streamer: A device that connects to the internet and plays high-resolution music directly from online platforms (such as Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz) or from local hard drives.
Phono Preamp: A preamp is necessary for connecting a turntable to amplifiers that do not have a dedicated phono input. It amplifies the very low signal from the cartridge so that it can be heard properly and at the correct volume.
Bluetooth Receiver: A device that adds wireless Bluetooth connectivity to older audio systems, allowing you to stream music from your phone or tablet.
Tuner: The classic radio receiver in Hi-Fi component form, for receiving FM, AM, or digital radio stations (DAB+).
WiFi Network Player: A player that uses the home WiFi network to stream music with superior sound quality compared to Bluetooth, without signal loss.
Filter / Isolator: Power or signal filters that isolate and clean out noise and interference from the electrical network, providing cleaner sound without "hiss".
Power Strip: Specially designed safety power strips for Hi-Fi systems, protecting sensitive equipment from power surges and electrical noise.
Power Supply: External, high-end power supplies that replace standard factory ones, providing stable and clean voltage for maximum performance of Hi-Fi devices.
Optical: Digital optical output (Toslink) that transmits the signal via optical fiber. It is excellent for eliminating electrical noise and interference.
RCA: The classic analog output with the familiar red and white plugs. It is used to connect to most traditional amplifiers on the market.
XLR: Professional, analog balanced output. Delivers the highest possible sound quality with no interference, even with very long cables.
Coaxial: Digital coaxial output (resembles a single RCA). It transmits high-resolution digital signal via copper and is considered by many audiophiles to be superior to Optical at high frequencies.
HDMI: Modern digital output that allows lossless transfer of high-resolution audio, ideal if you want to connect the Hi-Fi component to a TV or soundbar (usually via HDMI ARC/eARC).
S/PDIF: Digital output using the Sony/Philips protocol. This is a general term for digital audio transfer, which is implemented in practice either through the optical (Optical) or coaxial (Coaxial) port.
