Description

Description

Behind every page of this book lies the fundamental idea that successful parents are informed parents, educated parents. The pediatrician, whose role goes beyond addressing and preventing physical ailments, serves as a reference point in matters concerning the health and development of every child.

It is the doctor's duty to guide both the child and parents through a long journey over the years and, standing beside them, to inform, prevent situations, promote mental and physical health, support psychomotor development, and maximize each child's potential.

In this user-friendly book, pediatrician Stelios Papaventsis presents a synthesis of opinions and personal experiences from his dealings with children and their problems. It is written as simply and concisely as possible. Its aim is to provide practical advice, thoughts, and reflections for a new, more holistic relationship between Greek parents and their infants and toddlers.

- How important is the preschool age for the happiness and fulfillment of the child?

- How to play with infants and toddlers?

- How to communicate better with them and promote their language development?

- What knowledge and skills do we need to help them develop healthy habits in key areas such as sleep, breastfeeding, and nutrition?

- How to better support their psychomotor maturation?

- How should we behave in our daily lives towards small children? With what modern principles and methods should we educate them?

- How do we create gifted babies, equipped with fundamental tools for tomorrow?

- What is the role of the specialist?

- And finally, how do we change society, our cities and neighborhoods, to bring infants, toddlers, and their parents to the forefront?

Review this product
  • I have the 12th edition. It is a good book for new parents, covering a wide range of issues that a parent faces. Although, as a parent of a 21-month-old child, I can't say it helped me excessively. In some points I even disagreed, such as when it said that it's best not to rock children to sleep because they get used to this situation, which is then hard to change. In my experience, the child went through many phases; sometimes yes, he wanted excessive rocking, sometimes he just wanted breastfeeding, and after 13-14 months all this obviously changed. The baby's behavior constantly changes... Also, partly because we have a very well-informed pediatrician, I had already heard much of the information. I found the second part about communicating with toddlers to avoid so-called tantrums particularly interesting. And in general, the book encourages you to see the whole parenting issue from a simple perspective, which we often forget

A very useful book, especially if you are a first-time parent and preparing for introducing solid foods. It is easy to read. I had read it shortly before we started solids and it helped (among other things) to avoid mistakes in feeding

Very general and vague, like an essay of ideas, it doesn't really help with any specific problem, such as food, child's sleep, etc., with practical advice and instructions.
