Soap: Traditional white soap that produces rich lather and allows me to shave without cuts or pulling. It has a subtle scent of citrus and fern that is so mild it only lasts during shaving (and not afterwards). This is a positive aspect for those who want to use aftershave. The soap lasts a long time, so in the end, it is more economical than other products on the market.
Bowl: It is made of "mahogany" type wood, which may disappoint some, but its coating is sufficient to protect the wood. I have not seen any signs of warping or damage in the past 6 months. The lid does not lock, it simply covers the bowl. The paper label around the lid is a flaw because it is not waterproof and got destroyed, but it has a very sticky glue. Removing the label completely required some work.
Soap & Bowl Combination: The soap reaches the edge of the bowl, so initially I had some foam loss from the sides. After a few weeks, when the soap went down a bit, I had no issues.
Company: When I started traditional shaving and did my research, Dr. Harris was always among the recommended brands. So I decided to buy this soap as a starting point and as a gift to myself after all these years with commercial foams. There are certainly many companies with new products for various tastes. Personally, I chose to start with the traditional route with Dr. Harris, a brand with 2 centuries of tradition.
Σαπούνι: Παραδοσιακό λευκό σαπούνι που παράγει πλούσιο αφρό και μπορώ να ξυρίζομαι χωρίς κοψίματα ή τραβήγματα. Έχει αμυδρό άρωμα από εσπεριδοειδή και φτέρη που - είναι τόσο αμυδρό που διαρκεί μόνο κατά το ξύρισμα (και όχι μετά). Αυτό είναι θετικό για όσους θέλουν να χρησιμοποιούν after shave. Το σαπούνι κρατάει πολύ – άρα στην τελική ανάλυση είναι οικονομικότερο από άλλα της αγοράς.
Μπολ: είναι τύπου "μαόνι", το οποίο θα απογοητεύσει μερικούς, αλλά η επικάλυψη του αρκεί για να προστατεύσει το ξύλο. Δεν έχω δει σημάδια στρέβλωσης ή ζημιάς τους τελευταίους 6 μήνες. Το καπάκι δεν ασφαλίζει, απλά σκεπάζει το μπολ. Η χάρτινη ετικέτα γύρω από το καπάκι είναι φάουλ γιατί δεν είναι αδιάβροχη και καταστράφηκε, αλλά έχει μια πολύ κολλώδη κόλλα. Η πλήρης αφαίρεσή της ετικέτας ήθελε δουλειά.
Συνδυασμός σαπούνι & μπολ: το σαπούνι φτάνει μέχρι το χείλος του μπολ, άρα στην αρχή είχα απώλειες αφρού από τα πλάγια. Μετά από μερικές βδομάδες όταν κατέβηκε λίγο το σαπούνι δεν είχα θέμα.
Εταιρεία: όταν ξεκίνησα το παραδοσιακό ξύρισμα κάνοντας την έρευνά μου η Dr Harris πάντα ήταν στις προτεινόμενες μάρκες. Έτσι αποφάσισα να αγοράσω αυτό το σαπούνι για αρχή και σαν δώρο στον εαυτό μου μετά από τα τόσα χρόνια με αφρούς του εμπορίου. Σίγουρα υπάρχουν πάρα πολλές εταιρείες με νέα προϊόντα για ποίκιλλα γούστα. Προσωπικά διάλεξα να ξεκινήσω με την παραδοσιακή οδό με την Dr. Harris με 2 αιώνες παράδοσης.
