The destruction of the Twin Towers at the beginning of the third millennium once again brought to the forefront, in a dramatic way, the phenomenon of 'religion', particularly the relationship between Christianity and Islam. Many rushed, terrified, to adopt the ideology of 'children of light' of the West against the 'children of darkness' of the East.
The devastating political-military consequences of this war demonstrated that this ancient oversimplified distinction of the world into good-evil, sacred-profane, pure-impure does not 'interpret' and, most importantly, does not heal the complex reality.
In this work, which is a synthesis of two books by the famous German Roman Catholic New Testament scholar Joachim Gnilka, an attempt is made to compare the Bible and the Quran on a variety of topics of faith and ethics, while the reader realizes the value of key points of his own faith that he previously simply 'overlooked' as incomprehensible dogmas.
Furthermore, the influences exerted on Muhammad and the Quran by Judaism as well as by a section of Christians, whose traces disappear after the first millennium, are explored. Thus, the reader is initiated into the genesis and diversity of primordial Christianity, as well as the evolution of the formation of Islam, which rapidly spread in the Mediterranean basin.
