There are two axes in this book. One is synchronous with political developments, the fluctuations in education, and the way the people perceive the ideologies of politicians.

The other axis is disentangled from the mutations and fluidity of political life and deals with stable cultural reference points in the world of arts and letters. The author refers to great foreign creators and thinkers, as well as to our own ancient and modern figures. Without them, our political life would be unbearable.
