The archive -more accurately, part of the archive- of Stratis Athanassakos came into my possession, containing historical and other interesting information about our local issues and broader national matters.

This was a challenge that piqued my interest and became the reason for this presentation of the personality and work of Stratis Athanassakos, as I believe that his entire life and path are inextricably linked to the history of our region, Thesprotia, starting from his tenure as Prefect of Thyamidou (Filia) in the 1930s and continuing through the Greco-Italian War of 1940-41 and the post-war period of the decades he served the community as an active citizen and politician.
