Description

The Non-Governmental Organization "Solidarity" of the Church of Greece, in its effort to preserve, protect, and primarily highlight works that constitute an expression of cultural creation, warmly embraced the publishing initiative of the newspaper "Ethnos."

This edition represents an experiential journey aimed at promoting the culture of our country. It is a series of publications that contain important information about the Churches, Monasteries, and Chapels in our area, a pilgrimage of faith and culture, a journey through history with intermediate stops at the creations of pious people from the past.

Christian artists who transformed their faith into works of their hands and marked the landscape with the metaphysical essence of their belief. The promotion and enhancement of all those cultural monuments, including ecclesiastical ones, that over the centuries have adorned and continue to adorn our homeland and have become intertwined with significant moments in its history, is a duty for all of us.

All the surviving ecclesiastical monuments constitute an invaluable treasure, and it is each of our responsibilities to learn about the history, artistic value, and spirit they convey. Our hope is to assist the modern traveler in discovering the hidden treasures of Greece through the Orthodox Christian monuments found scattered throughout the Greek countryside, and perhaps to encourage them towards a direction of gentle and quality domestic tourism.

The purpose of this publishing series, which has been realized under the auspices of the Non-Governmental Organization "Solidarity" of the Church of Greece, is to help the contemporary visitor, the traveler, the pilgrim, to visit these monuments and experience the history and culture of each place.

We hope that this publication will become a useful companion and an essential guide for modern wayfarers and pilgrims.
