The purpose of this book is to support the current or future secondary school Biology teacher in their effort to organize their teaching effectively and in accordance with contemporary trends in learning.

The book is organized into two parts: (A), where the types of knowledge required for such an endeavor to be satisfactory are presented, and brief epistemological issues concerning the development of Biological Sciences are discussed, and (B), where elements for the learning and teaching of biological knowledge and the development of biological reasoning based on research in the Didactics of Biology are presented.
