Description

"I couldn't imagine a worse thing. To uproot a thorn to stay alive, and then realize that while you don't feel pain without the thorn, you don't feel your heart either...
My eyes blurred and I was ready to burst into tears."

When the distant and antisocial grandmother falls ill and comes to stay at the house, little Sophia and her mother suffer from the ill-tempered elderly woman and their lives become difficult. But what has happened to this grandmother that makes her behave this way? What has she gone through to hate everyone and everything? After a few weeks, Sophia begins to understand that her grandmother's abrupt behavior is actually a veil trying to cover a story of loss and great pain. The sea, poetry, and plants prove to be three valuable companions in the harsh internal struggle that the three women endure until they win the precious prizes of reconciliation, self-awareness, and the forgiveness we owe to ourselves.
