Auschwitz-Birkenau... words that have become synonymous with horror and death. In the countless blood sacrifices made at the altar of the Hitlerian Minotaur, Greek blood was not absent. Sixty thousand Greeks, whose only crime was that they were born Jewish, and a few dozen Christians, who were arrested for resistance actions or for helping their Jewish fellow citizens escape, experienced incredible tortures in that hell which even Dante's pen would struggle to describe.
This dark chapter of our national history, unknown to most, is addressed by this publication, attempting with the help of the camera lens and the written and oral testimonies of those who survived and wanted to speak, to create a painful journey of memory and history, step by step into the lair of the hellhole Auschwitz-Birkenau.
