This book was born out of the guts of another older one, published in 1947, with which I had tried to present the unbroken history of Thessaloniki in a simple way, based on the findings of historical and archaeological science up to that time.

I believe it will serve as a pleasant informative guide for every reader, with information supported by rich bibliography. This bibliography, as well as the "Catalog of Books about Thessaloniki" compiled in 1962 by Dinos Christianopoulos (on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its liberation), and the recent list of books, magazines, diaries, etc., published by the Municipality of Thessaloniki on the occasion of the "15th Dimitria" (November 10-23, 1980), should be consulted by those who wish to delve deeper into the history and topography of Thessaloniki or with some specific topics about it.

The images, topographic plans, engravings, photographs, etc., that accompany the text, I ensure are directly related to it, tightly intertwined with it, and contribute to the representation of the past.
