It also allows you to have multiple functions activated at the same time, so if it hears crying, it starts playing the sound you have chosen, but if you shake it, it will stop. We received it as a gift now that we are expecting our baby, I was looking at the Fisher Price owl, but the fact that the mechanism cannot be removed for washing prevented me from buying it, so we ended up here! I will come back in the future to see if we actually used it as I imagined
