    The alarm clock cannot be heard at all, so the child can never know when they will go to sleep or when they will wake up since the Sam clock cannot be heard at all (not even when you are right next to it and awake). When the child plays, they will never look to see if Sam will close his eyes, so you need a louder sound. I returned it to the store and even if it could be heard even if you had your ear covered, it was not considered defective. I wasted my money, I could have gotten something cheaper that would at least wake her up in the morning and even with music. Unacceptable sound, overpriced, not so easy to program (although it's not a big problem for someone who knows how to read the manual).
