Description

On the frontline of war, inside a tent, he recorded his thoughts, giving himself advice, encouraging himself with the power of philosophy.

With the aim of staying true to the ideas he had embraced since his youth, enduring difficulties, not being swept away by the torrent of events, not ending up as an ordinary man of power, but remaining what he was: a philosopher-emperor.

He did not intend to publish them. He wrote to stay strong. He did not believe in posterity. He did not even believe that anyone would remember him. However, he was proven wrong. Eighteen centuries have passed since then, and the MEDITATIONS still live on.

They have known countless editions, they have been loved and praised by numerous authors as the inexhaustible source of wisdom. As the "eternal gospel," as Renan described them.

Nice for a gift. I learned about it from the series Leftovers and I think I will copy the protagonist in what he did. Some of the things he says stick in your mind. Aurelius is wise

A book that is not read as a narrative, but as a personal dialogue with yourself. Marcus Aurelius speaks simply about things we all experience: anxiety, anger, losses, expectations. It is impressive how a Roman emperor thinks so humanly and grounded. There is no pomp or philosophical theories; it is guidance for every day. It is not for a 'once and done' reading – you open it again and again, and each time something different strikes you inside.

One of the quietest yet most powerful books that can change the way you think.

Gospel Book. Good rendering of the translation. Good quality paper, I would perhaps prefer it to be hardcover for such a masterpiece (however, I knew what I was buying). I recommend it to everyone who wants to explore their deeper self, their existential horizon, and their encouragement to face life from a different perspective.

I will not focus on the fact that he was a strong man of his time, nor that he was a philhellene. The essence of his philosophy was the opposite of vanity and greed. His bonus is that he used the power he had correctly and was one of the five good Roman emperors. He established orphanages and hospitals. Above all, he was a philanthropist, and Stoic philosophy is an antidote, especially in today's world.

I have no words for this masterpiece. It was not meant to be published, it is simply the thoughts in the notebook of one of the most powerful people in history (and one of the wisest). GET IT. Study it as many times as possible, always have it on your nightstand. Utilize the wisdom within it and you will be able to pursue and keep whatever you desire. 5 stars are not enough.

Amazing book that teaches a proper way of life without going into many details. After all, it was the memoirs of one of the greatest Roman philhellenic emperors. If someone wants to start with ancient Greek philosophy, they should start with "Meditations".
