These notes were written to serve as a guide for students of Higher Education Institutions in the subject of Numerical Analysis.
Numerical methods, that is, the methods of Numerical Analysis, provide solutions to problems that are approximate. However, for many of these problems, Algebra and Analysis are unable to provide a solution. Numerical methods have the additional advantage of being applicable on a computer.
The presentation begins with a very useful introduction, where basic concepts and terms of the subject are discussed. In the first chapter, numerical methods for solving algebraic equations are introduced. In a simple way and with examples, the reader will become familiar with the numerical methods for solving algebraic equations, the most important of which are the Newton-Raphson method and the secant method. The significance of these methods is great, as the reader knows from the subject of Algebra.
In the second chapter, we will learn about polynomial approximation, that is, the approximation of a function by a polynomial. The importance is substantial, as it is known that polynomials are easier to manipulate compared to other functions.
