Through the pages of this book, we seek to highlight basic elements for the reading of an image. The texts and images challenge us to observe the types of lines, shapes, forms, colors, intensity, and tone. The title of the book itself, apart from being a prompt, is a description of its way of reading.
Look... where do the lines start, where do they end, how are they connected, how do they look, search for the similarities, the forms, the shapes, the colors, see the contrasts.
Remember... what do you know about the objects? What is their texture? How do they smell? How do they sound? When did you first see them? How did they make you feel?
Wonder... how did they end up there? For what reason? What can follow?
"The Atelier of the Fantastic" is a group of primary education and preschool education educators with the common goal of cultivating language, aesthetics, and liberating imagination.
The principles of the group start from the liberating critical pedagogy and the Reggio Emilia approach and educators such as Paulo Freire, Loris Malaguzzi, and Gianni Rodari, in order to meet the interests, knowledge, and experiences of children, leading to the production of authentic and original works.
The "Atelier of the Fantastic" team deals with the organization of educational seminars as well as organized workshops focusing on storytelling-creating fairy tales, approaching polytropic texts and works of art, as well as producing visual/plastic works and performance art. It aims to re-approach everyday materials through the use of conventional, but also more imaginative tools, such as
the photo bank and wordplay, thus traversing the path from observing the real to co-constructing the fantastic.
