This book is the third volume of the series titled MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. It is aimed at students of Polytechnic Schools and Technological Educational Institutions, as well as practicing Engineers.

This volume contains practical applications of the theory of elasticity and the strength of materials, addressing problems of bending, shear, and torsion. The last chapter presents in the simplest possible way the combined stress of structures, the determination of the maximum normal and shear stress, as well as the failure condition of a structure. This chapter also includes several applications of Mohr's circle.
