The great Nobel laureate writer Dario Fo is a prophet for his time. Making a sharp X-ray of the social conditions in Italy in the mid-1970s, he predicts all the facets of today's globalized post-capitalist Western society, where the individual has lost any other identity beyond that of the consumer.
Before and now and always, the ability to meet the basic needs of food and shelter defines the practical meaning of dignity for the human species. Thus, in a practical manner, the division of individuals within a society into those who have and those who do not, easily translates into the division of individuals into dignified and undignified.
Based on the material of Dario Fo, we attempted to set up a performance in which, alongside the biting humor and satire of the writer, we also used elements from contemporary Greek reality, which differs little from the society that Dario Fo describes in his work.
By juxtaposing pieces drawn from contemporary reality with excerpts from Dario Fo's text and through the codes of farce and review, our goal is to laugh at our daily tragedies while simultaneously reflecting on issues that concern us all.
