In a black-and-white photograph from 1941, 238 children and teenagers are depicted in crisp military uniforms. They are the students of the Dolores Religious College in Santiago de Cuba.
Among the students are the sons of the wealthy landowner Ángel Castro, Raúl and the charismatic Fidel. A few years later, some of the children in the photograph will help their classmate Fidel Castro lead the revolution, while others will take up arms against him or go into exile.
Patrick Simms sought out the students of Dolores College, from Havana to the community of exiles in Miami, and presents here the biography of the generation that organized the Cuban Revolution, created but also lost Cuba.
