The presentation, even if brief, of the life and work of Nikos Kazantzakis, a writer of global renown, within the limited time frame of a presentation, is indeed a laborious effort.
Moreover, the literature on Nikos Kazantzakis is inexhaustible (studies, essays, tributes, articles, reviews, etc.), and the number of books being published is also multiplying; recently, on the occasion of the year of Kazantzakis, a new expanded edition of G. Stefanakis' book, 'Report on Kazantzakis', was released.
However, I will attempt, fully aware of the weight of the responsibility and requesting, a priori, the understanding of the audience for this bold endeavor, to outline diagrammatically and as a preface to the following presentations, characteristic biographical and bibliographical elements, curriculum vitae et operis, in the form of a timeline, so as to highlight, as much as possible, both the imposing and multifaceted persona of Nikos Kazantzakis in the field of letters and his multifaceted presence in the realm of modern Greek and world literature, in general.
