Over a table with ouzo and appetizers, two childhood friends decided to embark on a long journey. To conduct a comprehensive research on one of their greatest loves - ouzo, as well as its relationship with the Greek specifically and humanity in general.
Along the way, they would discover that ouzo is not just another drink, a simple distillate without character and personality. What makes it unique is a long series of things: the production methods and its ingredients, the traditional copper stills, the Greek and Cypriot distillers, its tradition and cultural heritage, the magic of the senses and the merging of the past with the present and the future, as well as the various local appetizers and recipes gathered one by one from every corner of Greece.
In cafes and taverns, in mezze places and "in" spots, ouzo remains the undisputed star of our entertainment and lives. All these roads opened up before us, we walked through unknown paths, discovering stimuli for all the senses: aromas, flavors, sounds, images, and objects - all a tangle - culminating in our glasses...
This book presents a momentary madness that lasted more than three years of research, travels (about 22,000 km), contacts, appetizers, and many full - and empty - glasses.
