Description

The Dental Materials at a Glance, 2nd edition, is a new title in the highly popular series "At a Glance". It provides accurate and immediate introduction while also serving as a review aid. Following the familiar, user-friendly format of the series, each topic is presented on two pages, with keywords and clear diagrams that consolidate the essential information. With 18 additional chapters compared to the 1st edition, the Dental Materials at a Glance, 2nd edition, is fully updated and more detailed.

Many subsections now occupy the space of an entire chapter, and new materials and their uses are explained clearly and precisely. Systematically and clearly organized, the book Dental Materials at a Glance, 2nd edition covers:

  • every major category of dental materials and biomaterials
  • the basic chemical and physical properties
  • clinical handling and application
  • the complications and side effects of the materials

This work is the ideal book for dental students and young doctors. Additionally, the text offers valuable information for general dentists who wish to enhance their knowledge and has immediate application for hygienists, dental assistants, specialist nurses, and dental technicians.

THE AUTHOR Dr. J. Anthony von Fraunhofer is Emeritus Professor at the School of Dentistry at the University of Maryland and was previously a Professor and Director of Biomaterials Science in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He holds a (BSc) degree in chemistry and has an MSc and PhD in metallurgy, as well as being awarded Chartered Scientist, Chartered Chemist, and Chartered Engineer designations from the UK Science Council. Dr. von Fraunhofer also holds fellowships in the Academy of Dental Materials, ASM International, the Institute of Corrosion, and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
