Addictive synthesizer with extensive parameter customization for the oscillators and more. The keys could be better for the price of the product, given that the MicroKorg-S is a 2016 version in which they doubled the memory. The pitch and modulation wheels are not as smooth, but they do not detract from the expressiveness. The speakers are better than expected, but after 60% volume, you can feel vibrations in the keys, and after 80%, there is distortion in the sound. However, these speakers are satisfactory (I do not have an opinion on power consumption yet) because they make the MicroKorg portable. As an owner of a Novation Mininova, I would suggest not comparing it to the MicroKorg because they have significant differences and a different sound, even though the Mininova has borrowed the navigation style. It is cheaper, newer, has noticeably better keys, and has superior build quality in my opinion. The price could be lower, I think.
On the first day of use, spending 3-4 hours, I had a great time learning its workflow. I gained great comfort relatively quickly since I clarified the following in my mind from the beginning: How the memory is divided into banks and patches and how to navigate through them. How to initialize an existing patch or otherwise restore any patch to its initial settings. How to save a patch. Remember: each genre has 4 banks, and the 4th (d) always contains 8 free slots with the initial patch for you to create your own. The other menus for the oscillators, the arpeggiator, etc., have a simple logic and are easy to navigate, given that the overall menu navigation was created about 20 years ago. I will come back to my evaluation after the summer when I use it extensively :)
