The texts that make up this volume (texts in the form of discussions and interviews) cover a significant period in the life of Michel Foucault. They span from 1972 to the early part of 1984.

Although they are primarily infused with the theme of power (that is, "power relations"), they also address a multitude of other issues: the archaeology of knowledge, politics, the lack of political imagination, the concept of the event, May '68, Foucault's relationship with Marxism and the left, and finally, the care of the self as a moral practice.
