Protease 3.0 generally breaks down proteins under acidic stomach conditions, thus presenting a broad spectrum of action, while protease 4.5 presents a limited spectrum of action with absolute specificity to certain proteins.
• Glucoamylase: An enzyme that breaks down specific carbohydrates, malt-oligosaccharides (e.g., maltodextrins) into glucose.
• Cellulase: An enzyme that breaks down cellulose, which appears in (plant) dietary fibers.
• Papain and bromelain: Proteolytic enzymes derived from the papaya fruit and the pineapple stem, respectively, used to break down inactive proteins contained in food, thus aiding the action of endogenous proteolytic enzymes (e.g., pepsin, trypsin, etc.).
