Worship, as I understand it, is an interpersonal relationship. I was not a believer until one day I discovered God. Immediately then, He revealed to me that He is the ultimate value and the One who gives meaning to all of life. At that very moment, He also revealed Himself to me as a Person.
I believe that no one can feel what worship means when they have no One to worship. No one can teach another person worship when that other person lacks a personal sense of the presence of the 'living God.' They may teach them the external ritual acts and expressions of a believer's worship, but without the personal relationship with God, there will not be, within their imitative worship expressions, that spontaneous movement of their soul toward God, which is the most essential characteristic of genuine worship.
