The new SP 70-200mm F/2.8 G2 (Model A025) telephoto lens redefines 70-200mm telephoto lenses with enhanced optical performance, upgraded VC (Vibration Compensation), faster AF speed and accuracy, and a shorter Minimum Object Distance (MOD) for greater flexibility. Compatibility with Tamron's teleconverters adds additional optical length while maintaining the technological innovation of the SP series.
The optical design features include:
- XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) optical elements that eliminate chromatic aberrations.
- eBAND coating that provides protection against reflections.
- Reduction of MOD from 1.3m to 0.95m, allowing a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.1.
The lens features a circular USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor that ensures excellent focusing speed and accuracy. The Full-time Manual Focus function allows adjustments during AF use. The VC image stabilizer is equivalent to 5 stops according to CIPA standards and offers three VC settings, including one for panning.
