I have been wearing this style of boots since 1989, and Commanchero is the best I have ever tried. I had the black ones for 10 years and now I got the dark brown ones; the quality has not only not dropped but has actually improved! Thicker leather, much better insole, and a fantastic-soft sole (with the first pair I had to take them to a cobbler to add a set because the sole was hard underneath and made walking difficult) – I just removed the straps. Like the first pair, these didn't "hurt" me anywhere, just know that you need to go one size up from what you usually wear, and it really helps to gently apply some fat (it softens them, enhances the color). Comfortable for walking outside.

After twenty years, I took them to change the soles because they had worn out. The cobbler admired their excellent construction quality. Very thick but soft leather of great durability. They are not for long walks, although I have walked endless kilometers with them in the past. I have taken off their straps but I still hold onto them emotionally, that's why I took them to put on softer soles, even though I won't walk much with these particular shoes from another era!
