Sofaki is a little girl who loves animals. She tries to convince her mother to get a puppy, but she doesn't succeed. Until, in her dreams, a fairy-dog named Do comes and gives her advice on the proper behavior towards all animals, especially strays.

In Sofaki, I saw the faces of my boys, who have loved animals since they were very young... They feed the cats with leftovers at taverns, pet other people's dogs, and adore goats and horses. They also want a puppy, just like Sofaki... For now, though, they haven't achieved their goal.

A beautiful children's book that teaches both young and old respect, love, and care for all animals. It also shows how adults should pass on important life values to their children. Care, empathy, and love, especially for the weak... And more specifically, for stray animals.

Because surely a child who loves and cares for animals and the environment grows up to be an adult who loves and cares for themselves, nature, and their fellow humans! And this, in my opinion, is not innate, but something parents must teach their children.

I was impressed by the mention of animal welfare organizations and the encouragement to adopt stray animals, something original for a children's book.

I also really liked the name the author gave to the fairy-dog... "Do," like the first note of the musical scale!

Although the texts are quite long for little children, they all rhyme, which makes them pleasant and original.

The beautiful sketches are simple and clear, exactly what little children's eyes need. After all, I expected nothing less from my favorite illustrator, Kostas Theocharis, with whom I had the pleasure of working in the past.

Sofaki and Do is a beautiful children's book that promotes love for animals, especially strays, empathy, care, and the responsibility one should feel when there is a pet at home.

Exactly what I learned and felt myself when my dad suddenly brought a little puppy home!
