Description & Specifications

The type of teaching that takes place within a school and social context largely determines the content and process of learning and shapes the final outcomes of school education.

Depending on the nature of the relationships that develop between the key elements of teaching (educator, student, teaching subject, teaching context), teaching takes on different forms. Thus, a variety of teaching practices is shaped, which can be categorized into major categories such as teacher-centered, student-centered, knowledge-centered, and group-centered. Representative examples of these four categories of teaching include dogmatic teaching, practice-based teaching, critical teaching, and collaborative learning.

One of the main goals of the school is to guide students towards acquiring skills and abilities so that they can express their thoughts both in writing and orally, effectively managing their social relationships and the working conditions they will encounter in their lives. In this direction, we believe that group teaching can provide the appropriate functional framework, where students, collaborating in small groups, can develop learning capabilities and social skills. This is a social form of teaching that is applied at all educational levels and in most subjects. Students in a class are divided into smaller groups, where members collaborate to achieve common learning goals.

This book identifies the pedagogical framework on which group teaching is based, its role in intercultural education, and how it is implemented in collaborative learning, differentiated instruction, and teaching using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), through illustrative teaching scenarios in elementary school subjects.
